Better late than never!

So its fair to say I've been a little out of touch with my blogging recently! It's been a crazy 6 months, what can I say.

The fashion show was incredible, I loved every hectic minute of it.It was a huge relief to have all the work done and enjoy watching all the long hours pay off.

Highlights of the night included:
-sewing my model into a pair of trousers after a faulty zip incident
-being 'fashionably late' for collecting my cheque and award for the David Nieper competition
-celebratory drinks with the fashion family

After the show I went along to help the lovely team and students of This is Creative Enteprise; an incredible programme aimed at giving young students experience and an insight into how creative industries work. I drove up to meet the team at Belsay Hall in Northumberland and helped with the running of the day as well as styling and makeup tasks.

Easter Holidays?

It’s Easter holidays but there is no rest for the hardworking fashion students at Cleveland College of Art and Design.  Well into the swing of final major projects and May deadlines are looming! I managed to get most of outfit 1 and the shell of outfit 2 finished so that I would be able to do the more time consuming tasks of knitting and crocheting over Easter break. As you may or may not now from my numerous previous posts about knitting, I’m a dab hand at it- crocheting on the other hand has always been a mystery to me. Until the other day when I went to my lovely Auntie Di’s and learnt a few of the basics, since then it’s been youtube videos and experimenting to get the right effect I wanted. Heres a few sneek peaks..

Today I managed to finish the sleeves on outfit number 2 and crochet a little black drawstring bag to accompany the outfit. It’s always a danger bringing the sewing machine out in my house because I get bombarded with things that need a little seamstress attention! .. on this occasion it was the tablecloth that needed a little adjustment. So it’s been a busy Easter and guaranteed to be even busier on my return to University on Monday! Hopefully I will hear back from University of Lincoln for my third year soon.. the suspense is killing me. It will be a tough decision if I get the offer, as I’ve also been offered a place at De Montfort University in Leicester. All very exciting things on the cards at the minute.. wish me luck!
As always,
Best Wishes

Hello Lincoln!

What a lovely day I’ve had. The sun has been shining and I’ve been wandering the beautiful city of Lincoln. Today I have had my interview at the University of Lincoln For their BA Hons Fashion Studies course, I think it went well but.. fingers crossed! (we know what I will be wishing for!) Amongst the excitement (and nerves..) of the interview i have been soaking up the rays on Lincolns high street! My my my, it is a delight! Moving up towards the cathedral quarter there are some gorgeous Boutiques and Vintage shops to be found! and some lovely scenery too!..

I also couldn’t resist popping into a quaint little wool shop called spins and needles! I had a lovely chat to the owner and managed to bag myself some more metallic wool for my FMP! As well as being invited to one of their “stitch and bitch” nights that are held the last Monday of every month… Ofcourse!
All in all a very nice day! … minus the blister my shoes have given me
Also it was my birthday on Monday, I am now 20 years and 2 days old! I had a great weekend and a lovely day on Monday..I even got a birthday crown from my lovely friend Andrea Miller (http://sequinsandlies.blogspot.co.uk/)

Keep Wishing

A Vintage Spring Fling!

So yesterday Andrea (http://sequinsandlies.blogspot.com/) and I attended A Vintage Spring Fling hosted by the lovely Alex Bloundele. The event was held in The Basement, Middlesborough (just opposite the town hall). We had a range of vintage goodies for sale on our stall; bags, shoes, skirts, trousers, shorts, dresses, blouses, tops, leather jackets, knitted cardis, rings, hand knitted-headbands and collars, friendship bracelets, purses...... and EMPOWERING PANTS!

Unfortunately we only managed to get three pairs made in time to take with us due to CCAD closing early on Fridays (please revise your opening times). We took it as more of an opportunity to get people’s opinions on the pants and got a few questionnaires filled out for our market research.  Although, in the first hour of being open we had sold all three pairs- there was very positive and encouraging feedback from both customers and fellow sellers.  All in all a very good day! ..I also managed to bag myself a sequin bargain from Vintageous rags (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Vintageous-Rags/242273382495477) ..and in the process of labelling up our vintage goodies, me and Andrea did a little swapsie with our own dresses! Another sequin number from sequinsandlies-surprise surprise!

In other news, I have been in a couple of local newspapers about the David Nieper Competition.Hartlepool mail-http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/local/louise_has_designs_on_royalty_1_4277015
Fashion Academy competition- http://www.fashionacademy.org/academy-content/competitions/david-nieper-student-fashion-competition-2011

Tomorrow I go for a meal with the other finalists and on Tuesday we have an exciting day of workshops and interviews… I cannot wait!

have been using all my eyelashes to make wishes on my success in the competition!
wish me luck!

Febulous!

Exciting things have been happening in my blogsence (absence from Blogging). I have recently found out that I am one of four finalists in the David Nieper Fashion Acadamy Competition. So I have been shopping for outfits for a supper I am attending and a day with workshops and interviews that takes place in March. I cannot wait!
My “Royally Yours” collection got me through to the finals, and now hopefully I can win first prize and the 6 month internship up for grabs at the fantastic David Nieper Company in Alfreton, Derbyshire… Dream come true!
Today however, we have had our Tallulah Love Critique where we presented our lingerie and concept to the lovely Michelle Taylor.  Mine took a little inspiration from Mr Mavin Gaye- I Heard it Through The Grapevine! (who would’ve known this is one of Michelle’s favourite songs!) I was Inspired by a beautiful vineyard I visited in Costock called Eglantine Vineyard- where I got a wealth of primary research to inform my lingerie designs. My final design featured box pleats, vintage ribbon knitting and finger-numbing french knot hand embroidery!

Since finishing my project I have uploaded the main body of work on my issuu profile..
Happy Days!
